The Droste Effect

At the turn of the Twentieth Century, Droste, Haarlem's premier cocoa manufacturer, introduced 'the Nurse.' The iconic package design, featuring a repeating image, continues to inspire artists, one of the more famous being M.C. Escher. Thus, the repeating form has been dubbed, 'The Droste Effect.'

Students in the photo classes tried their hand at the Droste Effect.
